Upward Bound is a federally funded program that provides academic support, counseling, tutorial services, career mentoring, cultural exposure, and community service opportunities necessary for potential first-generation college students and/or economically disadvantaged youth to complete both high school and college.
Upward Bound at the University of Montevallo is funded by two grants from the US Department of Education: $250,000 per year to serve Chilton County schools, and $350,683 per year to serve Bibb County and Shelby County schools. The program is sponsored by the university community, and conducted through the Division of Student Affairs. All services are provided at no cost to program participants and their parents.
