Falcons Picked to Finish Fourth in PBC Preseason Poll
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team was selected to finish fourth by Peach Belt Conference coaches today (Aug. 13). The Falcons received a vote for first, three for second, two for third, one for fifth and a single vote for sixth. The Patriots of Francis Marion and the Bearcats of Lander University were tied for the league lead in the poll released today, marking the first time since the inaugural season of 1992 that two teams have shared the votes. The top-five also comprised of Clayton State University who were chosen to finish third and the Falcons defeated last season 4-2, our University of Montevallo Falcons fourth and UNC-Pembroke who were picked to finish fifth. The Falcons notably boast a 3-0 record against Peach Belt opposition from last season. The Falcons return 19 players from last season’s squad who finished first in the Gulf South Conference. These players include Milan Pualic (Subotica, Serbia) who was named to the All-South Region First Team and All-Gulf South Conference First Team. Pualic is joined by All-Gulf South Conference players Austin McIntosh (Sheffield, England) who was named the first team and Nathaniel Foster (Brampton, Ontario) who was named to the second team. The Falcons will also welcome talented group of six newcomers. The Falcons open up their regular season Aug. 28 with a home match against Faulkner University at 7 p.m. Conference play will begin for the Falcons Sept. 12 as they travel to play Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida at 6:30 p.m.
