Falcons Picked to Finish Fourth in PBC Preseason Poll
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women’s volleyball team was selected to finish fourth by Peach Belt Conference coaches today (Aug. 14). The Falcons received three votes for second, two for third, one for fifth and a single vote for sixth. The Pirates of Armstrong Atlantic State University were picked to finish first.
The top-five also included Flagler College, another Peach Belt Conference newcomer, who were chosen to finish second, Francis Marion who were third and Lander College who were voted fifth. The Falcons will enter the Peach Belt Conference holding a 5-0 record against conference opposition from last season in which they defeated Flagler College 3-2, Lander College 3-1 and 3-2, USC Aiken 3-0 and Augusta State University 3-1.
The Falcons return eight players from last season’s squad who led the team to its first postseason appearance since 2003. They will be joined by a talented group of five newcomers.
The Falcons open up their regular season Aug. 28 on the road against Henderson State University at 9 a.m. in the 7th Annual UWF Comfort Inn-vitational taking place in Pensacola, Fla. Conference play will begin for the Falcons Sept. 19 as they host UNC-Pembroke at 3 p.m. inside the Bank Trust Arena.
