Volleyball Goes
1-1 on Opening Day
MEMPHIS, Tenn. –
The
O’Brien era got off to a quick start in Memphis, Tenn. today (Aug. 29)
as the University of Montevallo volleyball team (1-1) earned a
dominating 3-0 victory over West Liberty State (0-1) before falling to
host Christian Brothers University (2-0) 3-2. Head coach Katie
O’Brien picked up her first ever victory at Montevallo after
becoming the coach following last season.

Falcons to host UM Classic
MONTEVALLO --
The University of Montevallo volleyball
team will host the 2008 University of Montevallo Classic, Sept. 5 and 6.
In addition to UM, the University of Arkansas-Monticello, Fort Valley
State University and Stillman College will participate.
UM will play Fort Valley State on Friday, September 5 at 5 p.m. UM will
then play UAM Saturday morning at 11 a.m. and Stillman Saturday
afternoon at 5 p.m.
All matches will be played at the BankTrust Arena on the University of
Montevallo campus.

Torotorici named to Pre-Season All-GSC Team --
Falcons picked to finish seventh in GSC East
BIRMINGHAM (8/6) --
For the third consecutive season,
Monika Tortorici has been named to
the Pre-Season All-GSC Team, it was
recently announced.
Torotorici led the team last season in
service aces per game (.51), along with blocks (110). She was also
second on the team in blocks per game (.88) and third in kills per game
(2.36).
As a team, the Falcons were picked to finish
seventh (East) in the 2008 Gulf South
Conference Volleyball Coaches Poll.

Falcons add two for 2008
MONTEVALLO (7/23) – The University of
Montevallo volleyball team has added two student-athletes for the 2008
season, it has been announced by head coach Katie O’Brien.
Anna Garrison, a 5-4
setter/defensive specialist from LaVergne, Tenn. and Rachel Wotitzky, a 5-4
setter/defensive specialist from Punta Gorda, Florida will join the Lady
Falcon volleyball program this fall.
