How do I get to Blackboard?
From the University of Montevallo homepage, go to Faculty Resources and click  the Blackboard icon or simply go to  http://online.montevallo.edu.
 

How do I get an account on Blackboard?
All registered UM students and faculty teaching a class automatically get a Blackboard account.
 

What do I do if I forget or lose my password?
If a user forgets or loses their password, they must complete the Lost Password page to obtain a new password. To open the Lost Password page, select Forgot Your Password? on the Login page.  After submitting a form, a password will be sent via email to the user.
 

How can I change my password?
There is no limit on the length of passwords; a password must include at least one non-space character. Special characters are permitted and passwords are case-sensitive. Special characters include % & # < > = +

Blackboard recommends the following to ensure system security:

• Passwords are at least eight characters long
• Passwords should not include proper names or words related to pop culture
• Passwords should not include personal information, such as phone numbers
• Passwords should be changed every 6 months

To change your password, click Personal Information on your Home page and then select Change Password.

Go to http://access.blackboard.com
 

Are files uploaded to Blackboard automatically checked for viruses?
No. The best way to protect your computer is to have a virus protection program. Contact the Technology Services Help Desk by calling extension (205) 665-6520 or via email at helpdesk@montevallo.edu if you need help.
 

Does Blackboard work with AOL?
Yes but do the following after connecting to AOL:

• Minimize the AOL window
• Open another web browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer)
• Connect to UM Blackboard
