How to Change Your Network Password

The New Protocol

The new protocol for network passwords goes into effect on March 12, 2008 at 7:00 am.  It requires that all network passwords expire after 180 days.  In selecting a new password, you must choose one that meets the following parameters:

  • your new password must have at least 8 characters
  • your new password should not be similar to old passwords
  • your new password must not contain your username
  • it must contain characters from at least three of the following categories:
    • uppercase letters (A - Z)
    • lowercase letters (a - z)
    • numerals (0 -9)
    • special characters (examples: !@#$%)

The new protocol also includes a provision for previously used passwords to be reused after one cycle.  In addition, your account will be locked after ten consecutive failed attempts to login should you forget your password.

Which Password Am I Changing?

PC users will change the password they user to login to their computers every morning.  Mac users will change the password they use to login to their email.  NOTE:  Your Admin passwords (the password used to access SIS, PLUS, Reflections) are not affected by the new protocol.

Special note:  Please be sure to close Outlook (PC users ) or Entourage (Mac users) before changing your password on the next page to avoid the possibility of locking your account.
